Day 1 & 2!

So first night, I slept at midnight and woke up at 6am. Not bad right? No jet lag yayyyyy
Ate a little oatmeal for breakfast at 8am (I had nothing else) while talking to my dorm-mates, who also woke up pretty early.

At 10am, we all took a trip to the Municipal office to sort out our residency affairs. It was my first train ride since arriving. It's 200 yen per ticket, so around $2, kind of like the COTA buses. Those are my dorm-mates in the top picture, the approaching train in the middle, and all of them in the train in the bottom picture.

We were at the Municipal office for almost 2 hours, it was a really long and complicated process. We had to fill out this detailed form, which was all in Japanese so none of us could read it (full of unknown kanji). I was absolutely starving, since my last decent meal was at Max and Erma's in Detroit.

When we were finally done, the group split up into people heading back to the dorm, and those who wanted to get something to eat. We went to this one place, (I can't remember what it's called!) that was kind of like a Japanese fast food place where everything was super cheap. I ordered gyudon, which is beef over rice. I could have cried of happiness; the feeling of decent food in my very empty stomach...........x)

After returning to the dorm, we all got out our books and studied for our placement test tomorrow. I know right? But it didn't last long; after only 10 kanji, I got sucked into a game of Mario Kart. After 3 rounds, people teased me about my 'sailor mouth'; yeah, I get prettttty competitive haha

At 4pm, my friend Ayuko came to visit me. With her as my tour guide, I finally got to see my campus. It's sooo green! It didn't even feel like a campus, it looked like one of those parks people go to to run. Maybe I'm just comparing it to OSU, which isn't a very pretty campus what with all the construction and dried up grass, but Nanzan was really clean and green. I'll have to take pictures of campus later. By the way, there's this huge, really steep hill I have to climb to get to campus from my dorm, so it'll be a daily workout (yayyy......)

Ayuko then took me to this cafe called Cafe One, a really cute, nice place. Even better was the food and drinks. I ordered this cold tea called "Feel relaxed" that had chamomile, lemon grass and mint, and it was AMAZING. It was like something I've never tasted before. We topped it off with a delicious lemon and brown sugar crepe with vanilla ice-cream. So. Good.
